Piero Vettori was a classical scholar born into a distinguished family in Florence and celebrated for his scholarship in 16th-century Italy. He edited and wrote commentaries on many works by ancient Greek and Roman poets and writers. Among his works that are considered to be of particularly high acclaim and of lasting value are his commentaries on the Letters of Cicero (1536-37) and his studies on them (1540-41), Aristotle's Rhetoric (1548, 1579), Poetics (1560), Politics (1576), and Nicomachean Ethics (1584).

フィレンツェの名門に生まれ，16世紀イタリアにおいてその学殖をたたえられた古典学者。イタリア名ベットーリPiero Vettori。数多くの古代ギリシア･ローマの詩人･文筆家の著作を校訂し注釈書を著した。中でも，とくに高い評価と永続的価値が認められているのは，《キケロ書簡集》注釈(1536‐37)とその研究(1540‐41)，アリストテレスの《修辞学》(1548,1579)，《詩学》(1560)，《政治学》(1576)，《ニコマコス倫理学》(1584)などである。
