A commentary. The author is Kitamura Kigin. 60 volumes, 60 books. Completed in 1673 (Enpo 1). Kigin studied under Minogata Joan, Matsunaga Teitoku, and others, and in addition to their lectures he compiled many old commentaries, and used them as headnotes and sidenotes, along with the appendixes such as dates and genealogies, for a very convenient book. It was reprinted many times as a printed edition, and was widely circulated until the Meiji and Taisho periods. However, the main text is of the Shohaku type, and as an Aobyoshibon book it is impure, so it is not highly valued today. [Imai Gen'ei] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
