Josephin Péladan

French writer and mystic. Born Joseph Péladan in Lyon. He was involved in the study of occultism from an early age. He called himself "Shah" (Persian for "king"). In 1892, he founded the "Salon de la Rose-Croix" and influenced many writers and artists after the Symbolist movement. Since his first work, "The Supreme Evil" (1884), he has written numerous magical theories, novels, art critiques, and plays, including the 19-volume "The Fall of the Latin Peoples" (1885-1907).

フランスの作家，神秘思想家。本名Joseph Péladan。リヨン生れ。早くから隠秘学(オカルティズム)の研究に従事。〈シャー〉(ペルシア語で〈王〉の意)を自称する。1892年に，〈薔薇十字サロンSalon de la Rose‐Croix〉を創設し，象徴派以後の作家，芸術家に影響を与えた。最初の作《至高の悪》(1884)以来，19巻に及ぶ《ラテン民族の落》(1885‐1907)など数多くの魔術的理論書，小説，芸術批評書，戯曲を残す。
