A legend about the legendary island of Atlantis, which appears in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias. Located in the ocean outside the Pillars of Hercules (the Strait of Gibraltar), it was a kind of terrestrial paradise, but 9,000 years ago, before the time of Solon, it was defeated in a battle with Athens and then sunk into the sea in a single day and night. Its existence and location have been the subject of debate since ancient times, but the Canary Islands and Santorini are also sometimes compared to Atlantis. As a perfect subject for movies, novels, and popular occultism, it remains as popular today as the legend of Mu. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
