It came into being around the Kyowa period ( 1801-04 ) in the Edo period, and was set up in shrine grounds and entertainment districts, with women who would catch arrows to attract customers and secretly engage in lewd activities. 〘名〙 料金を取って楊弓の遊戯をさせる家。江戸時代、享和(一八〇一‐〇四)ごろ起こり、神社の境内や盛り場などに設けられ、矢取り女を置いて客を呼び、ひそかに淫をひさぐこともあった。明治一九年(一八八六)以後、取締りがきびしくなり、次第にさびれた。矢場。楊弓店。楊弓屋。土弓場。※雑俳・裏若葉(1732)「腰銭の矢だねを尽す楊弓場」
