Common sense (English spelling)

Japanese: 共通感覚 - きょうつうかんかく(英語表記)common sense
Common sense (English spelling)
It refers to the senses common to all senses, and is distinguished from the specific senses corresponding to specific senses. It is also called the general sense. In Aristotle's De Anima, the perception of motion, stillness, number, shape, and size was considered to be common sense, and was distinguished from specific senses such as color-vision and sound-hearing. The so-called "common sense philosophy" (Scottish School) of England, centered around T. Reid and A. Ferguson, criticized the philosophies of Berkeley, Locke, Hume, and others, and sought the principles of philosophy in common sense. Furthermore, in Kant, common sense became one of the important concepts of aesthetics, and the basis for the universal validity of judgments of taste was sought in common sense (Gemeinsinn).
