Poltava
A city in central Ukraine. Also known as Poltava. It is one of the country's major industrial centers, with industries in machinery, food processing, and shoemaking. Its name appeared in the chronicle in 1174. It was the site of the Battle of Poltava in 1709. It has a population of 297,589 (2012).
