Also known as magenta and rosaniline. Chemical formula: C 20 H 19 N 3 . Decomposition point: 186°C. Its hydrochloride (chemical formula: C 20 H 20 ClN 3 ) is a dark red crystal with a green metallic luster, with a decomposition point of 200°C. It is slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, and easily soluble in ethanol. It is one of the oldest synthetic dyes, discovered by J. Nathason in 1856 and first synthesized in 1878. It is a red triphenylmethane basic dye, and is used as a dye or dye raw material. In addition, when this aqueous solution is saturated with sulfur dioxide, a colorless solution is obtained, but when an aldehyde is added to it, it turns purple, so it is used as a fuchsine-sulfite reagent to detect aldehydes.
