Water-based paint - Suiseitoryou (English spelling) water paint

Water-based paint - Suiseitoryou (English spelling) water paint

A general term for paints that use water as a solvent. They are divided into emulsion-based, aggregate-containing emulsion-based, and water-soluble plastic-based paints, and are usually called emulsion paints. They are also called water-based paints. Plastics generally contain emulsions of polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene, styrene-butadiene copolymers, and acrylic ester copolymers. These are classified into heat-curing and room-temperature-curing types depending on the coating film formation method. The former include styrene-butadiene and acrylic ester types, and the latter include vinyl acetate types. A general feature of water-based paints is that water acts as a solvent, so there is little risk of fire or environmental pollution. Moreover, the coating film is water-resistant once dry and has good alkali resistance, so it can be used on concrete, mortar, etc. The coating film is formed by the fusion of small particles of the resin that form the emulsion. As a result, it has poor gloss. Room-temperature-curing types are often electrostatically sprayed for indoor and outdoor painting of buildings. The heat-curing type is used as a primer that is applied to the surface beforehand to improve adhesion to the material when applying primer paint for automobiles.
