Western-style painter. Born in Shizuoka Prefecture. In 1913 (Taisho 2), he dropped out of Waseda University and traveled to New York to study at the Art Students League. In 1923, he moved to Mexico and graduated from the San Carlos Art School. He participated in the post-revolution art movement and became friends with Siqueiros, Rivera, and Orozco. He returned to Japan in 1936 (Showa 11), and the following year exhibited "Festivities in Taxco" and other works at the Nikaten Exhibition, becoming a member. After World War II, he helped found the Creative Art Education Association. He exhibited "Nursing" at the 6th Contemporary Japanese Art Exhibition, where he received an award for excellence. His style is strong and clear, and he has produced many prints. His books include "Children Drawing Pictures."
