A form of treatment for the mentally ill, this refers to a treatment facility positioned between inpatient and outpatient treatment. It is translated as a day hospital. It is prepared for patients who do not require 24-hour protection like inpatient treatment, and for whom the short period of outpatient treatment is not effective enough. In other words, patients receive medical treatment (pharmacotherapy and occupational therapy) for 6 to 8 hours during the day at the hospital, and spend the night at home with their family. It was primarily conceived as a method of rehabilitation during the transition from hospital life to the community. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
