A town in Kako District, southern Hyogo Prefecture. Facing the Harima Nada Sea, it is part of the Harima coastal industrial zone. In the early Meiji period, a fertilizer factory was built on reclaimed land at Beppu Kawajiri, and since then, large spinning, chemical, and steel factories have been established, and industrialization has progressed.
