Lancashire

Japanese: ランカシャー
Lancashire
A county in the northwest of England, United Kingdom. West of the Pennines, the Irish coast in the west is a fertile agricultural region. The north and east are hilly regions. Industrial areas such as Manchester are located in the southeast. Blessed with abundant coalfields, easy water transport, and a humid climate, it has become a world center of the cotton spinning industry since the Industrial Revolution. Iron ore is also produced on the Furness Peninsula overlooking Morecambe Bay, and heavy industries such as shipbuilding, machinery, chemicals, and metals are currently developed. In 1974, the administrative divisions of the county were reorganized, and the northwestern part of the county became part of Cumbria, and the southern part became part of Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and Cheshire, and parts of Yorkshire were incorporated in place of the county. Capital: Preston. 2,903 km2 . 1,171,339 people (2011).
