Rinsu - Rinzu

A patterned white silk fabric. Untwisted raw silk is used for the warp and weft, and patterns are created using a day and night weave with a satin front and satin back. The Komatsu region of Ishikawa Prefecture is the main production area, and the fabric is mainly used as white for women's formal wear, such as plain white wedding kimono, and for linings. The warp threads are often made of 21 denier two-strand raw silk, and the weft threads are often 21 denier three-strand raw silk, and the patterns are created using a jacquard machine. There is also pongee crepe, which uses tightly twisted yarn.

白絹の紋織物。経糸(たていと)・緯糸(よこいと)に無撚(よ)りの生糸を使用し、表朱子(しゅす)と裏朱子による昼夜組織によって柄模様をつくる。石川県小松地方が主産地であり、主として白生地(きじ)のまま、女性礼服の白無垢(むく)や、裏地に使われる。経糸は21デニール2本引きそろえ生糸使い、緯糸は21デニール3本引きそろえ生糸使いが多く、柄出しはジャカード機を使って生産する。また、強撚糸(ねんし)を使った綸子縮緬(ちりめん)もある。
