A city facing Komatsushima Bay in the eastern part of Tokushima Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1951. During the feudal era, the city was a port town called Komatsushimaura, and was a commercial and financial center, with a thriving trade of indigo with Osaka and Edo. The city developed with the establishment of Toyobo Komatsushima Factory in 1923, and since being designated a new industrial city in 1964, shipbuilding, steel, woodworking, papermaking factories have been attracted to the coastal area. Seafood processing is also popular in the Yokosu area. This is the most prosperous rice-growing region in Tokushima Prefecture, and greenhouse horticulture is also practiced. Tatee, which developed as a temple town for Tatee-ji Temple, the 19th temple on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, is a producer of bamboo shoots and bayberries. The Mugi Line runs through the city. 45.37 ^km2 . 40,614 people (2010).

徳島県東部，小松島湾に面する市。1951年市制。市街は藩政時代小松島浦と呼ぶ港町で，商業・金融の一中心をなし，大阪，江戸との藍(あい)の取引が盛んであった。1923年東洋紡績小松島工場ができて発展し，1964年新産業都市指定以来，臨海部に造船，鉄鋼，木工，製紙などの工場が誘致されている。横須地区では水産加工も盛ん。徳島県では米作の最も盛んな地域で，ハウス園芸も行われている。四国八十八ヵ所19番札所の立江(たつえ)寺の門前町として発達した立江はたけのこ，ヤマモモの産地。牟岐(むぎ)線が通じる。45.37km²。４万614人（2010）。
