Year of death: February 1, 1937 Year of birth: Tempo 13.7.23 (1842.8.28) The last lord of the Aki Hiroshima Domain. Born into the Sawa family of Hiroshima samurai in Otemachi, the castle town. His childhood name was Kiyotsuchiya. He was adopted into a branch domain and took the name Tamegoro, and later Nagaoki. He became the heir to the main domain, was appointed as the governor of Kii, and changed his name to Shigenori. His pen name was Kunzan. His foster father Shigenaga (Nagano), who was unable to leave his homeland due to the defense of his domain and the expedition to Choshu, went to Kyoto in place of him, and he became involved in the political situation at the end of the Edo period. Initially, he aimed to unite the Imperial Court and the military in the form of obedience to the shogunate's imperial court, but incidents such as the expedition to Choshu led him to advocate the restoration of monarchy by returning political power to the Emperor. In April 1867 (Keio 3), he attempted to go to Kyoto with Ikeda Shigemasa and Hachisuka Shigeaki to attend the Four Lords Conference, but failed, and he developed close ties with the Satsuma (Kagoshima) Domain. In October, he submitted a petition for the return of political power to the Emperor. In December, he participated in the Imperial Restoration Coup and was appointed as a councillor. He mediated between the Satsuma and Tosa (Kochi) clans at the Kogosho Conference and succeeded in bringing the conference to a successful conclusion. After becoming a member of the Genroin in 1880, he served as an envoy to Italy, head of the Peerage Bureau, member of the House of Peers, head of the Peerage Hall, president of the 15th Bank, and director of the Japanese Railway, and was awarded the title of marquis. <Works> "Autobiography of Asano Naganori" <References> "Geihanshi" "Konzan-ko 88-nen Jishi" (Asano Nagataka) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
