A type of folk art. A rice planting event accompanied by music on drums, suri sasara, flutes, and dobyōshi. Currently, it remains in the mountainous areas of the Chugoku region, and is called sageta, tabayashi, hanataue, or otaue, depending on the region. In the past, it was held nationwide, and was seen in special large-scale rice planting events such as the kadota of a village headman, the ota of a landowner, or the sacred rice fields of a shrine. Accompanied by music and song, rice planting is a form of incantation to make the autumn harvest more abundant, and is thought to be a common ritual in the evergreen broad-leaved forest culture, and is also seen in Nepal, Tibet, and Jindo in Korea.
