Azuma play song - Azuma play song

...A type of gagaku music. The songs sung there are called Azuma-yuuka. It seems that it was originally a local performing art in the eastern part of Japan, but from the Nara to Heian periods it came to be performed in the Kinki region as well, under the name Azuma-mai, and the style was almost perfected around the 9th century.
