Hayashida [Hot Spring] - Hayashida

Japanese: 林田[温泉] - はやしだ

This hot spring is located in the middle of Mount Kirishima in Makizono-cho, Aira-gun, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is the central hot spring in the Kirishima Onsenkyo area, located on a plateau at an altitude of about 760m overlooking Sakurajima, the Osumi Peninsula, and the Satsuma Peninsula, and is part of the Kirishima-Yaku National Park. It contains hydrogen nitrate and sulfide, and the temperature is 47-54°C. It was developed in 1929 by Kumaichi Hayashida, who was involved in the bus business, and buses ran through here in 1931, and it has flourished as a transportation hub ever since. In recent years, the opening of the toll road (Kirishima Road) has improved the connection with Ebino Kogen in Miyazaki Prefecture. Buses run from Kagoshima City, Kirishima-Jingu Station on the Nippō Main Line, and Kirishima-Nishiguchi Station on the Hisatsu Line, among others.

鹿児島県姶良（あいら）郡牧園町，霧島山中腹の温泉。霧島温泉郷の中心的温泉で，桜島，大隅半島，薩摩半島などを見下ろす標高約760mの高原地帯にあり，霧島屋久国立公園に含まれる。含ボウ硝硫化水素泉，47～54℃。1929年にバス事業にかかわる林田熊一により開発され，31年バスが通じ，以後交通の拠点として繁栄してきた。近年，有料道路(霧島道路)の開通により宮崎県のえびの高原との連絡もよくなった。鹿児島市および日豊本線霧島神宮駅，肥薩線霧島西口駅などからバスが通じる。
