...It consists of alluvial plains on the east bank of the Iwaki River in the center of the Tsugaru Plain. Itayanagi, located in the center, was opened by the Tsugaru Domain as a river port leading to the Sea of ​​Japan, and was called Itayanogi at the time. After the Kan'ei era (1624-44), as new rice fields in the surrounding area were developed, it flourished as a distribution center for goods, but after the Meiji era, shipping on the Iwaki River declined, and it lost its vitality in contrast to the prosperity of Goshogawara, where the Kitatsugaru County Office was located.
