A shrub of the Rutaceae family. It was introduced from Yamaguchi Prefecture to Ehime Prefecture during the Meiji period and later became known as iyokan. It grows to a height of 4-5m. The flowers are white. The fruit weighs 250-300g and is a deep yellow-orange color. The skin is thick but easy to peel, just like a mandarin orange. ミカン科の低木。明治時代に山口県から愛媛県に伝わってのちイヨカンの名で広まった。樹高4〜5mになる。花は白色。果実は250〜300gになり,濃い黄だいだい色。皮は厚いがミカン同様むきやすい。酸味と甘味が適度に調和し風味がよい。2〜3月に収穫し,5月まで貯蔵できる。
