Ritual rituals are behaviors that are standardized in each religion and culture. They also include secular events that are unrelated to any particular religion. They include rites of passage that indicate the transition of an individual's status (weddings, initiation ceremonies, funerals, etc.), intensification rituals to periodically strengthen the unity and solidarity of a group (agricultural rituals, annual events, etc.), and situational rituals to remove individual or group crises (rain-making and warding off evil spirits, etc.). Everyday actions such as greetings and calling out to others also have meaning and function as rituals. Rituals use symbols to convey a message, and at the same time, they also convey a meta-message that the content of the message is genuine and solemn. Therefore, rituals can be said to be excellent devices for those in power to transmit ideologies to maintain themselves.
