Funnel - Funnel (English spelling)

A tool with a wide opening and a narrow bottom, used mainly for transferring liquids. What is commonly called a funnel is also a type of funnel. Funnels used in chemical experiments are tubes with a conical opening and a thin leg to filter liquids and solids. Filter paper is used as the filtering material, but all-glass filters with disk-shaped fused glass as the filtering material are called glass filters. For suction filtration, ceramic Büchner funnels or glass filters with cylindrical openings are used. Separating funnels are used to separate liquid mixtures that separate into two phases. A type similar to a separating funnel with a short leg and a cylindrical container is called a dropping funnel (safety funnel), which is used to drip liquid reagents into reaction containers.

広い開口部をもち、下部が細くくびれた、主として液体を移すのに用いられる器具。一般にじょうごといわれるものも漏斗の一種である。化学実験に用いられる漏斗は、液体と固体とを濾別(ろべつ)分離するためのもので、円錐(えんすい)形の開口部に細い脚がついた管である。濾材には濾紙を使うが、円盤状の融着ガラスを濾材とする全ガラス製のものはガラスフィルターとよばれる。吸引濾過には、陶器製のブフナー漏斗あるいは円柱状の開口部をもつガラスフィルターが使われる。分液漏斗は、二相に分かれる液体混合物の分離に使われる。脚が短く、容器部が円柱状の分液漏斗に似たものは滴下漏斗（安全漏斗）で、液体試薬を反応容器に滴下するのに使われる。
