<br /> This ancient tomb is located in Tomihisa-machi, Kanda -machi, Kyoto -gun, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is located at the edge of a plateau that stretches gently from the foothills in the west toward the Suo-Nada Sea. It is very close to the coastline at that time, with the front part facing the sea. This ancient tomb is known nationwide as a typical Kinai -type keyhole-shaped tomb, the largest and oldest in Kyushu, and was designated a national historic site in 1985 (Showa 60). The total length of the tomb is about 130m, the front part on the east side is built in two stages and is about 12m above sea level, and the rear circular part on the west side is three-staged, about 70m in diameter and about 17m above sea level. The top of the tomb is flat with a diameter of 22m, and a long, vertical stone chamber is located almost in the center, and the mound is covered with roofing stones the size of a human head. The front part is long and thin from the narrow part and widens slightly at the tip, and the construction date is estimated to be around the beginning of the 4th century based on the excavated artifacts and the shape of the burial mound. Items unearthed during the excavation survey, such as a triangular- rimmed mirror depicting divine beasts, are kept at Uhara Shrine, and Ukidono Shrine currently stands at the front part. It is about a 15-minute walk from Kanda Station on the JR Nippō Main Line.

福岡県京都(みやこ)郡苅田(かんだ)町富久町にある古墳。西方の山麓から周防(すおう)灘に向かって緩やかに延びる台地の端に位置する。当時の海岸線にきわめて近く、前方部は海に向かっている。この古墳は、九州最大・最古級の典型的な畿内(きない)型前方後円墳として全国的にその名が知られており、1985年（昭和60）に国の史跡に指定された。古墳の全長は約130mとされ、東側にある前方部は2段築成、標高約12m、西側にある後円部は3段構造で直径約70m、標高約17mだったと推定されている。墳頂は径22mが平坦で、そのほぼ中央に長大な竪穴(たてあな)式石室があり、墳丘には人頭大の葺石(ふきいし)が敷き詰められている。前方部はくびれ部から細長く伸び、先端でやや広がっており、築造年代は、出土した遺物や墳丘の形態などから4世紀初頭ごろと推定されている。発掘調査で出土した三角縁神獣鏡(さんかくぶちしんじゅうきょう)などは、宇原神社に保管されており、現在、前方部に浮殿(うきどの)神社が建っている。JR日豊本線苅田駅から徒歩約15分。
