Nobutsura Hasebe - Nobutsura Hasebe

Japanese: 長谷部信連 - はせべ・のぶつら
Nobutsura Hasebe - Nobutsura Hasebe
Year of death: Kenpo 6.10.27 (1218.11.16)
Year of birth: Unknown. Samurai from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period. Son of Nagama Shindayu Tametsura. Sahyoe no jo. Served Emperor Goshirakawa's son, Prince Mochihito. On May 15, 1180 (Jisho 4), when Prince Mochihito's plot to overthrow the Taira clan was discovered before it could be carried out, he fought alone to meet the attackers. This is described in detail in the Tale of the Heike. Some versions of the Tale of the Heike (Engeibon and others) say that he was killed in battle along with Prince Mochihito, but other versions of the Tale of the Heike and the Azuma Kagami tell the aftermath. He was taken to Rokuhara and exiled (or wandered) to Hoki Province, and later, in April 1186 (Bun'ji 2), he became a retainer of the Kanto region and was ordered to be the land steward of Oya-sho in Noto Province. He later became a monk. He died in Kawarada in this sho. The descendants of the Nagake clan passed down the traditions of Shinren's military achievements and Yoritomo's letter of guaranteeing the ownership of the land. <References> Shinichi Saeki, "Minamoto no Yoritomo and Military Chronicles, Stories, and Tales" ("Setsuwaronshu" Vol. 2)
