Neriginuza - Neriginuza

Japanese:
Neriginuza - Neriginuza
Also called Kinuza, this troupe was based in Gion Shrine in the Middle Ages and engaged in the processing and sale of silk fabrics. It was established in the early Kamakura period, and appears in the January 1277 (Kenji 3) "Records of the Inspection of Tributes from Various Estates," which states "Kinuza Left Side Shinjinhira Gofusamaru," so it is assumed that it was divided into several groups, such as Left Side, Large Side, and Yorikae. Around the Nanboku-cho period, they had stores around Shijo Muromachi and Gojo Bomon, and operated with tokens. In addition to paying tokens as a miscellaneous tax, they also contributed to the use of the box seats at the Gion Festival. The 1431 (Eikyo 3) "Gion Shrine Record" states, "Once a year, the Nerikinza pays one kanmon of earthen tribute," which shows that the Nerikinza was still in business at that time.
