Emile Nelligan

A Canadian poet of French descent. Influenced by late 19th century French poetry, Romanticism, Symbolist poets such as Baudelaire, Verlaine, and Rimbaud, as well as Decadent poets, he lived and wrote the life of a destructive "cursed poet." He is known for works such as "The Golden Ship," "Romance of the Wine," and "Winter Night." His poetry was published in a "complete collection" in 1952, after his death.

カナダの詩人。フランス系。19世紀末のフランス詩、ロマンチシズムから象徴派のボードレールやベルレーヌ、ランボー、さらにはデカダン派の詩人たちの影響下に、破滅型の「呪(のろ)われた詩人」の創作と生活とを実践した。『黄金の船』『葡萄酒(ぶどうしゅ)の歌(ロマンス)』『冬の夜』などの作品が知られる。その詩作は死後の1952年になって「全集」の形でまとめて刊行された。
