Nimbārka - Nimbārka (English spelling)

Date of birth and death unknown. A 14th century Indian Vedanta philosopher and the founder of the Nimbarka sect, a branch of Hindu Vaishnavism. He was born in the Telugu region of southern India, but was active in northern India. His works include commentaries on the Brahma Sutra and the Dasa Shloki. He taught that Brahman (Brahman), the individual self, and the material world are real, and that they are one and the same. He also identified Brahman with the god Krishna, and based the belief in Krishna and his lover Radha on Vedanta philosophy, and was the first to teach that liberation can be achieved through romantic devotion to God.

生没年不詳。14世紀、インドのベーダーンタ学派の哲学者で、ヒンドゥー教ビシュヌ派の一派ニンバールカ派の開祖。出身は南インドのテルグ地方であるが、北インドで活躍した。著作には、『ブラフマ・スートラ』の注釈、『ダシャ・シュローキー』などがある。ブラフマン（梵(ぼん)）と個我・物質世界とは実在であり、両者は不一不異であると説いた。また、ブラフマンをクリシュナ神と同一視して、クリシュナとその愛人ラーダーへの信仰をベーダーンタ哲学で根拠づけ、神へのいわゆる恋愛的信愛による解脱(げだつ)を初めて説いた。
