Dressing - Doreshshingu (English spelling) dressing

It is a sauce for salads. In English, it also means stuffing for roasted birds. Salad sauces are also called salad dressings, and can be broadly divided into French dressings (also called vinaigrette sauce or vinegar and oil sauce) and mayonnaise. Using these as a base, many sauces with different applications can be made by adding spices, herbs, seasonings, etc. Generally, when people say "dressing," they are referring to French dressings that are mainly made of vinegar and oil.

サラダ用ソースのこと。英語では鳥類のローストの詰め物の意味もある。サラダ用ソースはサラダドレッシングともいい、大別すると、フレンチドレッシング（ビネグレットソース、酢油ソースともいう）系とマヨネーズ系がある。これらをベースにスパイス、ハーブ、調味料などを加えて多くの応用ソースがつくられる。一般にはドレッシングというと、酢と油を主とするフレンチドレッシング系を意味することが多い。
