Toyoha mine

This mine was located in the Jozankei area of ​​Minami Ward, in the west of Sapporo. Located upstream of the Shirai River, it was one of Japan's leading mines, producing 40,000 tons of black ore per month, which contained silver, lead, copper, zinc, and iron sulfide. Nippon Mining Co., Ltd. began mining in 1935 (Showa 10), and Toyoha Mining Co., Ltd. took over management in 1950. New veins were discovered and promising veins continued to be developed in recent years, but the mine closed in March 2006 (Heisei 18).

札幌市の西部、南区定山渓(じょうざんけい)地区にあった鉱山。白井(しらい)川上流にあり、銀、鉛のほか銅、亜鉛、硫化鉄を含む黒(くろ)鉱で、月4万トンを出鉱する日本有数の鉱山であった。1935年（昭和10）から日本鉱業（株）が採掘を始め、1950年からは豊羽鉱山（株）が経営していた。新鉱脈も発見され、近年も有望鉱脈の開発が続いていたが、2006年（平成18）3月閉山した。
