...A species of bird in the family Larkidae (illustration), or a general term for birds in the same family. The skylark Alauda arvensis (English name: skylark) is about 17 cm long. It is yellowish brown all over, with dark vertical stripes on the head, back, and chest, and whitish eyebrows and belly.
