Soil ecosystem

Soil ecosystem
The soil is an important base of life for higher plants, and the root systems, soil animals, and soil microorganisms form a single system as a whole through close interactions between each community and with the physical and chemical environment of the soil that surrounds them. The soil ecosystem is primarily responsible for the consumption and decomposition of animal and plant remains in the biological processes of energy translocation and material circulation in terrestrial ecosystems. The biomass (fresh weight) of the biomass and microorganisms that make up the soil ecosystem is greater than that of soil animals, and the organic matter decomposition capacity of microorganisms is also much greater per unit of biomass.
