〘noun〙 A condition in which the brain degenerates and shrinks in old age, causing symptoms similar to those of a mental illness. There is a decline in intellectual functions such as judgment, comprehension, memory, and calculation, as well as personality changes, and the patient is unable to maintain normal daily life or social relationships. The brain lesions are the same as those of Alzheimer's disease. Senile dementia.
