Dutch portrait painter from 1517 to 1575. Born in Utrecht and died in Antwerp. Served Emperor Charles V (King Carlos I of Spain), Philip II, and the Duke of Alba, Governor of Spanish Flanders. His profound style of painting, characterized by sharp psychological depictions and a strong realism, influenced Sánchez Coello and built the foundations of Spanish portrait painting. オランダの肖像画家。ユトレヒトに生まれ，アントワープで没。皇帝カール5世(スペイン国王カルロス1世)，フェリペ2世，スペイン領フランドルの総督アルバ公に仕えた。鋭い心理描写を特徴とする，強烈なレアリスムによる重厚な作風は，サンチェス･コエリョに影響を与え，スペイン肖像画の基礎を築いた。スペイン名はモロAntonio Moro。【神吉敬三】
