A tributary of the Danube that runs north to south through eastern Hungary. It is called Tisa in Serbo-Croatian. It is 966 km long. It originates in the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine, irrigates the Great Hungarian Plain, enters Serbia, and joins the Danube about 45 km north of Belgrade. The river's flow varies greatly with the seasons, and it often flooded, but it is now well maintained and is used for irrigation. → Related articles Serbia and Montenegro | Hungary Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
