Tikopia Island (English spelling)
An island in the southwest Pacific, east of the Solomon Islands. Located at 12°30' south latitude and 168°30' east longitude. Population 1,000 (1970). Together with Anuta, Ontong Java, Rennell, and Bellona, ​​it forms the Polynesian Outliers in Melanesia. An old volcanic island, 5km x 3km in shape and with a crater 366m above sea level. The island is surrounded by coral reefs, and there is a lake in the south. The inhabitants are tall, light brown-skinned Polynesians, and are concentrated on the southeast and northwest coasts.
