Japanese: 河姆渡遺跡 - かぼといせき（英語表記）Hemudu

A Neolithic site located in Hemudu, Yuyao County, near Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. It was discovered during civil engineering work in the summer of 1973, and excavations were carried out in the fall of the same year, proving that rice cultivation had already been carried out in this area approximately 7,000 years ago. The existence of four cultural layers was revealed, and the Hemudu culture was established based on the two lowest layers. The fourth cultural layer, the lowest layer, yielded a variety of highly refined pottery, hoe tips made from the scapula of an artiodactyl, rice grains, rice stalks, and carbonized leaves, among other items. This is the most important site when considering the origins of rice cultivation.

中国浙江省寧波市近郊，余姚県河姆渡にある新石器時代の遺跡。 1973年夏，土木工事中に発見され，同年秋に発掘調査が行われ，約 7000年前にすでにこの地に稲作農耕が行われていたことが実証された。4つの文化層の存在が明らかにされ，下の2つの層を標準にして河姆渡文化が設定されている。最下層の第4文化層からはかなり完成度の高い各種の土器，偶蹄類の肩甲骨製の鍬先，稲籾，稲の茎，葉の炭化物などが多量に発見された。稲作の起源を考える際に最重要の遺跡である。
