A city in North Jylland County in northern Denmark. It is located at the northern tip of the Jylland Peninsula. It became a royal city in 1243 and flourished as a commercial center in the region. It is home to earthworks believed to be burial mounds from the early days of the Danish Kingdom, as well as stone monuments inscribed with runes, and was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1994. It produces condensed milk, biscuits, bacon, textiles, etc. Population: 34,579 (1991 estimate).
