…In his youth, he joined the Garibaldi Expedition and traveled to Naples in 1860. Although he aspired to become a doctor, he was interested in many fields, including history, literature, and literature, and wrote a book called “Biographies of Modern Men” (1864) and contributed to the ethnologist Angelo De Gubernatis’s research journal “Civilisation Italiana.” After he became a doctor, he came into contact with the daily life of the Sicilian people through his medical practice, and collected a wide range of materials on folk beliefs, folk tales, folk songs, and folk medicine, and devoted himself to the study of folklore. …
