Italica (English spelling)

An ancient Roman city founded in 206 BC by Scipio Africanus (the Elder) as a base for the Lusitanians. Located in the northwestern suburbs of Seville, today's San Chipon, in Spain. Known as the birthplace of three emperors, Trajan, Hadrian, and Theodosius I, the ruins of the Great Amphitheater attest to its prosperity. 前 206年スキピオ・アフリカヌス (大スキピオ) によってルシタニア人にそなえる拠点として建設された古代ローマの都市。セビリアの北西郊外に位置し，現スペインのサンチポンス。トラヤヌス，ハドリアヌス，テオドシウス1世ら3皇帝の生誕地として知られ，大円形劇場の遺跡がその繁栄を証明している。
