An ancient Roman city founded in 206 BC by Scipio Africanus (the Elder) as a base for the Lusitanians. Located in the northwestern suburbs of Seville, today's San Chipon, in Spain. Known as the birthplace of three emperors, Trajan, Hadrian, and Theodosius I, the ruins of the Great Amphitheater attest to its prosperity.
