Hindu religious and social ceremonies. They are translated as "purification ceremonies." Their origins are ancient, and some of them are thought to have existed since the time when the Indo-Aryan peoples were not yet divided into different ethnic groups and lived a communal social life. There are 12 representative ceremonies, including conception ceremony, male birth ceremony, hair-cutting ceremony, birth ceremony, naming ceremony, departure ceremony, first meal ceremony, hair-dressing ceremony, initiation ceremony, hair-shaving ceremony, homecoming ceremony, and wedding ceremony.
