A missionary organization translated as the Anglican Missionary Society. Abbreviated as CMS. Founded in 1799. Among the Anglican missionary organizations, it has an evangelical character and has emphasized the participation of believers in missionary activities. Its initial name was the Anglican Missionary Society for the Missions of Africa and the Far East, and it focused on converting pagans. CMS was the pioneer of Christian missionary work in the interior of East Africa, which began in the mid-19th century, and played a major missionary role, especially in Uganda, despite producing martyrs.

英国聖公会宣教協会と訳されている伝道団体。略称CMS。1799年設立。英国聖公会の伝道団体の中では福音主義的な特徴をもち，伝道活動に信徒の参加を強調してきた。初期の名称を〈アフリカおよび極東伝道のための聖公会宣教協会〉といい，異教徒の改宗に力をそそいだ。東アフリカ内陸部へのキリスト教伝道はCMSが先駆者となって19世紀半ばから始まり，特にウガンダにおいては殉教者を出しながらも大きな宣教の役割を果たした。
