?-1203 A 12th-century Andalusian scholar. Much about his life is unknown. According to his own biographies, he was born in a small city west of Lorca in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, and studied in Lorca. Before his death in early 1203, he traveled to Maghreb cities such as Ceuta, Marrakech, and Bijaya, as well as Alexandria, where he learned from many scholars. However, he spent most of his life in Murcia, close to his birthplace. Among his books, he is best known for his collection of biographies of Andalusian scholars.
