...It grows in warm areas from Honshu to Kyushu, and is also found on the Yellow Sea coast of China and in southern Korea. The basic variety I. aristatum L. is called Kiikamonohashi and is distributed from southern Japan through southern China to India. I. anthephoroides Miq., which grows on sand dunes on the coast, has short velvety hairs on the leaves and white hairs on the inflorescences.
