Claisen condensation

A reaction in which two molecules of an ester condense in the presence of a base, metallic sodium, _NaNH2 , etc. to produce a β-keto acid ester.

CH ₃ COCH ₂ COOC ₂ H ₅ + C ₂ H ₅ OH

A similar reaction occurs between ketones and esters to produce β-diketones.

CH ₃ COCH ₂ COCH ₃ + C ₂ H ₅ OH

When Claisen condensation occurs within a dicarboxylic acid ester molecule, it is called Dieckmann condensation.

2分子のエステルが，塩基や金属ナトリウム，NaNH₂などの存在下で縮合して，β-ケト酸エステルを生成する反応．

CH₃COCH₂COOC₂H₅ ＋ C₂H₅OH　　

同様の反応は，ケトンとエステルの間でも起こり，β-ジケトンが生成する．

CH₃COCH₂COCH₃ ＋ C₂H₅OH　　

ジカルボン酸エステルの分子内でクライゼン縮合が起こる場合はディークマン縮合とよばれる．
