Dachshund [Breed] - Dachshund
A breed of dog. 20-25cm tall at the shoulder. Native to Germany. Long body and extremely short legs. There are long-haired, short-haired and wire-haired varieties, with coat colors ranging from yellow-brown to dark reddish brown and black. A similar breed was seen in ancient Egypt. It was named after the fact that it was used to hunt badgers (Dachshunds) because it was good at getting into holes. It is now mainly kept as a pet.

イヌの一品種。肩高20〜25cm。ドイツ原産。胴が長く肢は極端に短い。長毛種，短毛種，ワイヤヘアード種があり，毛色は黄褐〜濃赤褐色，黒など。似たものが古代エジプトに見られる。穴に入るのに適し，アナグマDachs猟に用いられたのでこの名がある。現在は主として愛玩用。
