The protagonist of San'yutei Encho's "The Ghost Story of the Peony Lantern." She is the daughter of the samurai Iijima Heizaemon and dies in love with the ronin Hagiwara Shinzaburou. Otsuyu becomes a ghost and visits Shinzaburou every night, carrying a peony lantern and making the sound of her wooden clogs, but her true identity is soon revealed.
