Eta head - Etagashira

An official appointed by the Edo Shogunate to lead the Eta in the 12 provinces of the Kanto region (Sagami, Musashi, Awa, Kazusa, Shimousa, Hitachi, Kozuke, Shimotsuke), Kai, Izu, Mutsu, and Suruga. Danzaemon of Asakusa was the official, and after the Choshu Expedition he and his subordinates were released. Some feudal domains also established them. 江戸幕府が関八州 (相模，武蔵，安房，上総，下総，常陸，上野，下野) ，甲斐，伊豆，陸奥，駿河の 12ヵ国の穢多を統率するために任命した役人。浅草の弾左衛門がそれで，長州征伐後，その配下とともに解放された。また，一部の諸藩でも設けられた。
