A town in Katsuta County in the northeastern part of Okayama Prefecture. It occupies the eastern part of the Tsuyama Basin, and is served by the Kishin Line. The main settlement, Katsumata, was originally a post town on the Izumo Kaido road. In addition to rice cultivation using reservoir irrigation, the town also cultivates fruit trees such as peaches, pears, and grapes, and engages in dairy farming.
