Takase Dam

Japanese: 高瀬ダム - たかせだむ

A rockfill dam dedicated to power generation located in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture, in the middle reaches of the Takasegawa River, a tributary of the Sai River in the Shinano River system. Completed by Tokyo Electric Power Company in 1981, it is the tallest rockfill dam in Japan at 176m high. It has a crest length of 362m, a dam volume of 11.6 million m3, a reservoir area of 1.8 km2, a total storage capacity of 76.2 million m3, and an effective storage capacity of 16.2 million m3. This dam serves as the upper reservoir, and the Shin-Takasegawa Power Plant, constructed underground, uses the 230m difference in head between it and the downstream Nanakura Dam (rockfill dam, 125m high) to generate pumped storage power with a maximum output of 1.28 million kW.

信濃川水系犀川の支流高瀬川中流，長野県大町市にある発電専用のロックフィルダム。東京電力によって1981年に完成され，ロックフィルダムとしては日本最高の176mの高さを有する。堤頂長362m，堤体積1160万m3，貯水池の湛水（たんすい）面積1.8km2，総貯水量7620万m3，有効貯水量1620万m3。このダムを上池とし，下流の七倉ダム(ロックフィルダム，高さ125m)との間の落差230mを利用して，地下に建設された新高瀬川発電所で最大出力128万kWの揚水発電を行っている。
